Interview with a Current Wisconsin Sophomore

1. How easy is it to get the classes you want freshman year?

You are a assigned a registration date based on how many AP credits you come into college with. The more credits you have, the earlier your registration date will be. (Wisconsin accepts a score of 3, 4, or 5 on the AP tests for credit)

2. When do you rush a sorority or fraternity and how important is it to be in one?

Rushing a sorority or a fraternity begins 3-4 weeks into Freshman year. Girls who are not in a sorority will still be able to go to parties, but it will be hard for boys not in a fraternity to go to parties.

3. Where do Freshman live?

Students at Wisconsin are never required to live on campus. Many freshman still do decide to live in the on-campus dorms, but there are many off-campus dorms or apartments very close to campus.

4. What is the best food near campus?

Wisconsin is known for its cheese and burgers. One of my favorite places in Madison is Dotty Dumpling's Dowry.

5. How do you get tickets for men's basketball and football games?

Before the season, there is a ticket drop online. Students join the virtual queue to get season tickets for either sport. The season pass costs about $200. If you are unable to get a season pass, many students sell tickets weekly through Snapchat stories, and Group Meet group chats. You are also always able to buy tickets on ticket resale websites, they just won't be in the student section.

6. Do students bring cars?

Most students will never bring a car to campus, because everything is within walking distance. Some students from the Wisconsin area bring cars, but others typically will not.
